2nd Blog Post

I chose this piece because i liked the shape and color of the cylinder. It starts out small at the bottom and progressively widens as you go up the piece and then thins back down at the top. The glazing is also cool.

2nd Blog Post

I chose this cylinder because i like the shape of the clay at the top of the cylinder, i think it looks pretty cool because it's a total different shape/design then the rest of the cylinder.

I found my pot at google images

I used google
I chose this because of its unique shape and how it really isn't level. This gave me an idea of what I had in mind for what I wanted to make for my cylinder project. The simple design of stripes going down contour with the hard edges of the pitcher. The handle is unique because it is almost as long as the pitcher itself. This was created recently in the year of 2010. -Jessica Pak
I chose this because I thought the design was cool and the colors contrasted well with the white background. I also like the black abstract design on the bowl. The foot of the bowl also caught my eye because of its length. It was created in 2008. -Jessica Pak

What caught my eye when I was looking for cups/cylinders were the ridges along side of the cylinder. I found it interesting because my cylinders have a similar pattern. I found this at ArtStor.

Wheel Thrown Image 2

I found this piece on artstor when I was searching for ceramic cups. It was kind of interesting to look at because it looked like a rusted blue. Also it has two handles which were kind of cool. Also it has a cool lid and its from Korea.

I found this wheel thrown teapot online and this particular piece caught my eye because of really just the shape of the teapot. From the nozzle to the pulled handle the clay looks like it just flows. The nozzle you can also see is wheel thrown or pulled from the cylinder. The top has a sort of decoration but on and the lid has very distinct lines. The overall look and shape for this particular teapot appeals to me. ~Jordan Feeley

2nd Blog assignment - Dempsey

This is a cup with a unique shape and texture to it. It has a handle, looks pretty old, and kind of has an African feel to it. It is interesting how in the center it is small and thin, and the rim at the top is very wide. I found this picture of this piece @ Artstor.

I picked this pot because I thought it was pretty amazing how he threw the pot on a wheel and then carved it after wards. I also really the shape of the pot, how it starts of with a really small base and then becomes quite large in the middle and then at the top goes back to being relatively small. I found this pot online. ~Gracie

This piece is called "Cup With Handle" and was created in the early 6th century in Korea. I chose this because I thought it was really interesting how the base is wide and gets narrower and then opens out wide again. This adds to the decoration and the design to make it more unique.

Amanda Cordes Blog Entry #2

This piece originated from China in the Yongle era 1403-1424. It is made with Porcelain with incised design under glaze. It's name is "Bottle" and I find this piece very appealing because it looks very clean and bright. It also has a very interesting shape and am curious as to how the artist was able to create such handles.

The title of the piece is "Ocean Blue and White Mug/Wheel Thrown Stoneware Pottery." This mug has a ceramic pulled handle, which is covered by a multitude of color glazes to get the bluish/whitish glossy color. I found this piece on etsy.com, which is an online craft website. The creator of this piece is "dkpottery." The reason why I chose this piece is because it has an unusual mug shape, and because the interesting mixture of the blue color on the lip attracted my eyes.

Bowl with Human Feet-Egyptian

This bowl was from Egypt and was created during the Predynastic Period. This bowl standing on human feet, is similar in form to the Egyptian hieroglyph meaning "to bring." This bowl is made from Nile clay and has a slick, smooth surface. It also is a rich, dirt red color. This gives the bowl a natural look to it. It is slightly tipped forward to offer its contents.
What I like about this unusual piece of pottery is that it's very unique and different because of the human feet displayed as support beneath the bowl. It's not your typical pottery bowl you see everyday. It has a sense of character and meaning behind its obvious surface features.

This pot was made sometime between c.1825-40 and is titled Olla: Jar. I chose this post this pot because I like the designs on the jar as well as the shape. I also like how it is relatively simple and that there are no harsh colors.
